Goal Line Tech...

Yet again, we have seen a howling refereeing decision resulting in points being awarded that maybe shouldn’t have been.
This has brought back to the fore the debate for goal-line technology. All are saying that in this day and age, it ought to be brought in.
Typically, all of those calling for it are forgetting that the Premiership is not the only league in the World.
At which level should this technology be introduced? Top division or top 2 divisions in each league? Which leagues? Only European leagues? Who will fund this?

Let’s get this right: the FA can afford to subsidise systems like Hawk-Eye, but would it do it for all 92 teams in the league? Does that mean that teams in the Conference leagues are any the less important? That their goals are not as meaningful? There are 23 levels of division in the English league, let alone the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish. Over 7,000 clubs are involved, so do they not also deserve the same considerations as those in the top flight? Or is it because the Premiership is soooo important that all other divisions are irrelevant?
The English believe that they have the best league in Europe. I’m sure that the Spanish, Italians, Germans and French might contest that claim. So, that being the case, Hawk-Eye would need to be introduced in other European leagues, again to what level?
But of course UEFA can afford all of this, but let’s look at the rest of the World. Africa, Asia and South America would not be able to afford this technology at any level. So maybe the thought is that these countries are not important enough to warrant such scrutiny. I’m sure that the football fans in those continents would have something to say about this.
Remember, Premiership fans, yours is not the only league in the country or indeed the world. So before make sweeping statements on how the game should be officiated, stop and think on how this would affect the all football clubs...
