Indian Aid
It would seem that we are still giving aid to India, despite
the fact that its economy is growing a lot quicker that Britain’s.
Maybe it is us who should be asking for aid
I can see a situation where there will be a load of
British people heading to the sub-continent to escape the quagmire that Britain
is becoming.
Imagine, if you will, in a few decades when English
people move to Mumbai to run corner shops that open all hours, or maybe a
restaurant or two.
The Indian middle-classes will be able to “go for a
chippie” after an evening out.
Of course, there might be some social issue that will
need to be overcome, and India will have to be careful that some of the
dependants of the immigrants are afforded the same social support as the
indigenous population, making sure that any benefit offices have notices in
English and that there are readily available interpreters around to deal with
some of the older generation who haven’t been able to learn the language.
Many in Mumbai would have to get used the traditional
English garb of football shirts and trackie bottoms worn by the newcomers as they
go shopping in the high street for low-cost trainers and tee-shirts which are
made by cheap labour in England.
Of course there will be some confusion, with the locals
getting the English mixed up with their more radical neighbours, the Scots or
their poorer cousins, the Welsh...
