Cyclists

I am a cyclist so I know that there are a number of knob drivers around that makes cycling a challenge. There are too many idiots cocooned in their confy cars who don’t give a damn about any other road users.

However, there are a few things that cyclists do that irritate the hell out me

Lights: There is absolutely no reason for cyclists to ride around without lights. They are cheap to buy, easy to install, and you needn’t worry about them being nicked as most of them are small and can be easily removed and carried in a bag.

Therefore, if a motorist hits a cyclist with no lights during the hours of darkness, they should be immune to prosecution. Indeed, the cyclist ought to be made to pay for any damages to the vehicle as well as fined for cycling without lights.

Cycle Lanes: Although not as prevalent as they ought to be, they are there for the use of the cyclist. Therefore, any berk cycling on a road when there is a cycle path available ought to be fair game.

Headphones: On today’s busy roads, it amazes the number of cyclists wearing headphones. How in the hell can you be aware of what is around you when you have music pumping in to your ears. Again they should be fair game on the road

Mobiles: Quite rightly, motorists are forbidden to use mobile phones while driving as it is dangerous. So, cyclists, what makes you think that you will be any safer using you ‘phone while pedalling away?

Remember, cyclists, roads are built for the use of motor vehicles. The monies raised by road tax fund the maintenance of the roads. You contribute nothing.

Up until you start paying for the roads by some sort of taxation you are only using the road on sufferance and should treat the motoring public with respect.
