School Holidays
Since when has it become acceptable to take kids out of school just for a holiday? You hear on the news of parents whining how they can’t afford holidays during school holidays as the prices are hiked up by the travel companies. Actually it’s the other way around. The travel companies are discounting tickets during term time to fill seats.
But hang on, if you can’t afford to go on holiday, then don’t go, simple. Or perhaps look at cheaper alternatives, such as refraining from flying to Rio or Crete and consider what this country has to offer.
I mean, it’s not like kids don’t get enough time off as it is, is it? What with summer, Easter and Christmas holidays not to mention half-terms. So what possible justification could there be to remove them from school for any further time?
Legislation in relation to vacation has been in force for a number of years but this does mean that flying off to the Algarve, Lapland, Egypt or wherever, is a right.
Keep kids in school for education, save up for holidays, if you can’t afford it, then don’t go...
